I enjoy working with adults of all backgrounds and seek to create a warm, open, and non-judgmental space for each person I work with. I believe that no matter how complex and confusing life's issues may appear, there is always the opportunity for growth, healing and understanding. I look forward to collaborating with you and building with you!
I always wanted to know what made people tick. So, at 4 years old, I decided I wanted to be in the field of psychiatry. Entering therapy takes courage and determination. I believe in working together to identify what you desire to change, and I am educational in my approach as I believe you have to understand why you are doing something in order to change it.
I became a therapist because I got help for my own struggles, and I wanted to help others. I believe what we put into therapy sessions is what we get in return. Clients find that I'm straight-forward and honest, and I want everyone to know that there is nothing to be ashamed of in therapy. It is a learning and problem solving process that we go through together.
My approach to care is a person-centered, integrative, collaborative partnership between myself and the pt. It's an honor to work with anyone navigating painful experiences, and I've worked closely with Veterans, severely ill and injured active duty soldiers, and hospice care.
pursued mental health due to the stigma attached to it within my community. However, I have furthered my “why” since becoming a mother. I realise the overarching need for improvement in mental health for mothers. Mental health services should be integrated in OB/GYN offices and in hospitals.
You are not alone in this. Seeking help does not mean that you are 'crazy." It just means that you know that something's happening in your brain and body, and you may not have the energy or understanding to get yourself through it alone. Help is available.
My approach is to help patients develop reasonable goals, and to tailor the treatment to what the patient desires. I do not believe that medication is always the answer, but it also can be very helpful for many people. I love seeing patients of all ages and have experience and expertise working with the aging and elderly.
Work with me is always collaborative. Diagnosis is important but not mandatory. Your plan will be comprehensive, but not overwhelming. I prescribe medications and psychotherapy, but if you tried something else, please tell me. I want to learn from you as you know you best!
I want my patients to know that we will work together as a team to achieve their mental health goals and to achieve an optimal level of functioning even if they have been struggling for a long time - there are obtainable, evidence-based outcomes that really can be achieved. I want my patients to feel heard, validated, and genuinely cared for when they work with me.
I am open minded and a very good listener. I use a person centered approach as human connection is very important to me. Mental health impacts all aspects of life and I understand the vulnerability it takes to reach out for help. If you're struggling having access to a full toolkit - pharmaceuticals, treatments, therapy, social connectiveness, and caring for mind, body, and spirit - makes a huge difference with feeling better and thriving.
The role of nutrition and lifestyle is so important treating Mental Health, but no one was talking about it. So let's change that! I am non-dogmatic in my approach to finding personalized lifestyle and nutritional solutions for you to heal - mind, body, and spirit.
