I pursued mental health due to the stigma attached to seeking therapy within my community. However, I have furthered my “why” since becoming a mother. I realize the overarching need for improvement in mental health for mothers. Mental health services should be integrated in OB/GYN offices and in hospitals.
Meghan Murchison, LPC is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. She received her undergraduate degree from Prairie View A&M and her graduate degree from Lamar University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.
After becoming a mother Meghan's 'why' for counseling was reinvigorated with a passion for supporting the mental health of mothers and parents, people experiencing infertility and pregnancy loss, and advocating for mental health services to be an integral part of OBGYN care.
Meghan believes that there is no cookie-cutter way to approach all clients. She uses an eclectic approach which utilizes multiple theoretical approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing., and currently sees patients through virtual appointments.
Meghan accepts most insurance plans, and provides therapy relating to many conditions and circumstances including both chronic and acute trauma, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder.
