Our mission at Heading Health is to empower patients and their care teams to achieve mental wellbeing through the most effective and affordable treatments, with access supported by technology. In 2020, Heading was founded by a talented team of clinicians, human-centered designers, and technologists. Based in Austin, Texas, Heading’s initial offering has inspired patients, clinicians, and investors. Now Heading is ready to start growing state-wide and nation-wide! 


To more quickly achieve our mission, Heading’s leadership is looking for a Chief Growth Officer. This milestone hire marks the achievement of early product-market fit and the beginning of rapid growth. This new role is a resource to the leadership team, dedicated to leveling up across 3 key areas: growth, marketing, and related corporate initiatives: 



  • Partner with Operations on multi-year expansion planning by geography, lines of business, etc. 
  • Add rolodex to CRM pipeline, execute agreeable contracts, and own upsell/referral process 
  • Validate business models and then laser focus on the optimal business models
  • Exceed revenue targets 
  • Build a nationwide business development team to help customers buy into Heading’s solutions 


  • Grow B2B referral streams
  • Manage events calendar 
  • Adapt to market feedback, refining digital and print collateral across audiences 
  • Develop Heading into an iconic enterprise brand while maintaining clinical and scientific integrity 
  • Build a data-driven marketing team with a focus on B2B before D2C paid social 

Corporate initiatives 

  • Implement OKRs (Objectives & Key Results) to ensure that KPIs track to growth objectives 
  • Accelerate business through accelerator programs, venture capital, and corporate development 
  • Build and manage advisory boards: both a business advisory board and a clinical advisory board 
  • Standardize an objective talent acquisition process and help grow high performing teams
  • Serve leadership team as needed as an experienced thought partner and force multiplier 

Are you a good fit?  

  • Education level: BA in healthcare or similar field.
  • Experience: 10+ years in behavioral health and/or pharmacy. Series A stage startup experience required, ideally during rapid growth from first state to nationwide.
  • Rolodex: preference for rolodex via past sales, VC, MBA, or exited founder/early employee.
  • Licenses: active licensure not required. Preference for clinical practice in behavioral health as MSW, PharmD, PsyD, APRN, DO, MD; alternatively, experience as manager or family of mental health providers. 
  • Mission driven: you must have demonstrated commitment to mental health beyond your day job, such as non-profit service or caring for a family member with a mental illness. 
  • Independent thinker: able to make decisions without direct supervision and understand the “Heading way” vs traditional mental healthcare delivery.  
  • Evidence-based: you stay grounded in evidence-based medicine and FDA-approved tools available to providers within their scope of practice and state-specific rules/statute.
  • Have a patient-first mindset: be an advocate for helping our patients access care and improve their mental health, as they are at the forefront of our mind with every business decision made.  
  • Willing to travel: to Heading HQ in Austin, Texas (~monthly during onboarding and ~quarterly thereafter); travel wherever prospects and business partners are, in line with company policy & Covid travel advisories.
